As more and more calls for environmental action to be taken, so does the world of design evolve. Instead of just have walls to hold up structures or keep away the unwanted elements, new ways of reducing carbon emissions are coming up. Apart from just being a decorative feature on walls, moss walls are known to reduce the carbon footprint on the planet.

Types of Moss

There are three types of Moss namely reserved, living, or you can do a combination of the two mosses and a mixed moss. This can be simply termed as living and preserved moss. the living moss will require more attention like regular plants and constantly added fertilizers to help it nourish. This is quite the opposite when it comes to the reserved moss as it requires little to no supervision.

Indoor Walls

Traditionally, moss has been used as a decorative feature on the exterior vertical walls of structures. Well, this is a new century and designers are finding numerous numbers of ways to use it indoors. It can be added as a splash wall in kitchens and bathrooms as this ensures the living moss is watered constantly by the few drops of water as well as being decorative.


Since moss does not require dirt for its survival, many versatile uses are emerging some even being used as decorative art in spaces. This allows one to bring the outdoors indoors and have nature right within the comfort of your living space.
